City Impound & Lost Pets
The Laramie Peak Humane Society has partnered with the City of Douglas to provide a safe, temporary place for Impounded & Found animals while their owners relocate or reclaim them. Unfortunately, hundreds of animals brought to the shelter are never identified. Please do your part as a responsible pet owner and properly identify your pet. Pets should always wear a collar with an updated ID tag, in addition to a tag, we highly recommend microchipping all pets.
The city of Douglas employees a Community Officer who's duty includes picking up stray animals. City licenses are required for dogs and cats within city limits. Licenses are provided free of charge and can be obtained with proof of current rabies vaccination at the Douglas Police Department or at the Laramie Peak Humane Society. City licenses enable the safe return of your pet in the event that your pet becomes lost or escapes. Pets that cannot be returned home are impounded at the LPHS.
Staff and volunteers utilize phone, and social media in an effort to reunite impound animals with their owners. Animals remain in impound for 5 days. After the 5 day period animals become the property of the Laramie Peak Humane Society.

LOST & FOUND
If you've lost your pet, please come to the shelter to file a lost report in person. We do take lost reports over the phone, or you may fill out the form below, however, in person with a photograph of your pet is your best option. We go to great lengths to report found animals as accurately and frequently as possible via facebook, however, we recommend calling and visiting the humane society in person to identify whether a pet is present. Only YOU can properly identify your pet.
